Things I've Loved

Apr 29, 2017

Ok, I know it's been a while since I last did a blog post,
but believe me when I say I "tried"; it
just never happened.

Life happened.
Business took over.
Easter came and went..............and so it goes on.

But during all the mania I was making a note of things
I would like to share with you this month (as these posts seem
to be a bit of a hit with my lovely readers).
So here goes. Hope you like my choices this month and in turn are
inspired to try something that may be new to you.

reading, books, audible, goals,motivation

So I started listening to this on audio, but it was SO good I had to get the physical
version so that I could make notes and really digest what the author has written.

The basic premise of the book is this. If you calculate how many billions of years our

planet has existed, and then calculate the average life expectancy, it calculates as us having no more than the equivalent of half a second on this planet (or at least that is how quickly it will go!)

Yes, that stopped me in my tracks also.

Then using thousands of proven research and scientific studies
he helps you re-align with your dreams/desires. But more than that he presents the 5 doors you
must walk through to achieve the success you want. If you need inspiration to get back on
track whatever your desires, however big or small, then this is the book to read.
You will realise that you really don't have much time!!

Netflix, kindness, Kindness Diaries, travel

OMG!!! Where do I start? I've been recommending this to all my friends.
It will truly restore your faith in humanity.

It is about an ex-stock broker who decides to travel across the globe just
relying on the kindness of strangers for a place to stay for the night and something to eat.

What the "good samaritans" don't know is this is a man with money (lots of it!) and there are occasions when he is SO overcome by the "samaritans" kindness and generosity that he ends up doing something life-changing for them. This is where you will need to have the box of tissues
ready (well I certainly end up blubbing at the end of every episode).

What really shocked me was how it was usually the people with the least that opened their hearts up the most (you have to watch episode 3 with the homeless man!!). How ironic then that the only place that didn't help him at all was Lake Garda in Italy-one of the most luxurious places on the planet.

What does that really tell us?  It told me at least that true generosity is about giving
when you don't have a lot. Not sure if you agree with me.

Tarte cosmetics, Maracuja oil, lifestyle blog, vegan cosmetics, facial oils

So lately I have been a naughty girl and have been washing my face with water whilst in
the shower (something my Mum told me never to do!)
As I like my showers super-hot, this has not been great for my skin and
I noticed my skin was becoming very dehydrated and starting to resemble
something out of "Jurrasic Park!"

So then I came across this gorgeous oil by Tarte.
It is a vegan friendly product and also has no parabens or synthetics
and is made from the seeds of an Amazonian fruit.
At the beginning, I was using it directly on my skin and my skin was
literally drinking this stuff up.
Now I have started adding a few drops to my moisturiser.

I've also heard that people with oily or temperamental skin conditions have also
found it works wonders on regulating their skin. So it seems irrespective of how
your skin is, this will work. I LOVE it and am usually not a great fan of oils (I prefer
a luxurious, whipped cream ;-)

But I highly recommend this especially as we move into the warmer/hotter months
when parched skin may become more the norm.
I bought mine directly from QVC, but you can go directly to Tarte's website to
read all about it. They also have a great travel size which might be a way to test
this gorgeous oil before splashing out.

reading, Do It Anyway, recommendations, lifestyle blogger

Deep inside, we all want to do the right thing. We want to be generous, kind, loving, and full of integrity. But sometimes there seems like nothing but obstacles in our way.

Do It Anyway presents ten paradoxical commandments. These realistic facts of life represent the things that most commonly derail us when we try to do the right thing. Instead of trying to work around these derailments, the book teaches us how to do it anyway.

Such a simple concept but it really has power. I have a tendency when I am reviewing a situation, especially when spending time on doing something I enjoy, or on my business, to look at the end result and evaluate will it be worth my time.
This book has taught me how to do it anyway. It doesn't matter if my new creation is a flop, or no-one likes my creative endeavours, or even if I waste a whole afternoon in the flow of just doing something I enjoy. I should do it anyway.

It's not about applause or anyone knowing about something good I did for someone else-
I should do it anyway.
I now find myself thinking about this uplifting book throughout the day.
